Common Moorhen

This bird is found in North america, South america, Europe, Africa, and most of Asia. It inhabits ponds and lakes throughout most of its range.

The bird is all dark, with a red bill with a bit of yellow on the tip of the bill. It has yellow legs and huge feet, which it uses to walk on floating vegetation.

In some parts of its range it breeds year round. It lays 3-15 eggs. It nests in floating vegetation, within a meter of water.
