This duck ranges from USA and Canada, throughtout most of Asia, and almost all of Europe. It lives in rivers, lakes, and ponds.
Male mallards have a bright green head, chestnut under the neck, black and white tail, and the rest of the body is grey. While the female is dull brown, with a bluish beak.
It nests from April to June. It lays 13-18 eggs, in a nest on a riverbank.
